Join us in giving public witness to our faith in the Real Presence of Christ
What is the precise significance of today’s Solemnity, of the Body and Blood of Christ? The answer is given to us in the fundamental actions of this celebration we are carrying out: first of all we gather around the altar of the Lord, to be together in his presence; secondly, there will be the procession, that is walking with the Lord; and lastly, kneeling before the Lord, adoration, which already begins in the Mass and accompanies the entire procession but culminates in the final moment of the Eucharistic Blessing when we all prostrate ourselves before the One who stooped down to us and gave his life for us.
Melbourne Corpus Christi Procession
Sunday, 2nd June 2024
The Melbourne Corpus Christi Procession will be held on Sunday 2nd June 2024. The afternoon will commence with Mass at 1pm at Corpus Christi College Seminary (Carlton). Our Eucharistic Lord will then be carried in procession to St Patrick’s Cathedral, where Vespers and Benediction will be celebrated.
Corio Lara Catholic Parish is hiring a coach to transport parishioners to and from the Melbourne Corpus Christi Procession. Booking is essential to secure a seat on the coach.
The Procession involves walking from Sacred Heart Church in Carlton to St Patrick’s Cathedral. The journey is 1.5km but may take 60-90 minutes to complete given the slow speed at which the Procession will move.
